Below is some of the feedback, comments and reviews customers have given about Learn Speak Thai courses.

(Please note: The books, online website and app courses have the same lesson content. Volume 1 = Beginner courses and Vol 2 = Intermediate courses).

 =========================

‘These books are fantastic. I have bought lots of (learn Thai language) books, and lots of apps, and watched lots of YouTube video’s, I’ve been to two different schools, but this guy (Richard Charles) has really put a great resource together, and I highly, highly recommend them.

Peter Miller, Australian Expat in Thailand

We were delighted to hear the very positive comments about our Speak Thai Volume 1 and Volume 2 book + video made by Peter Miller in his first Thai Language 2021 Student vlog: Learn Tones First vlog 001: Learn Tones First. In it he talks about his journey trying to learn the Thai language in the hope his experience and advice can be of some help to others trying to learn Thai. Below is some of what he says:

‘If I had been taught what I am going to tell you now things would have been a lot easier. The first thing to do, and this is not taught anywhere except in these books (Speak Thai Vol, 1 and Vol. 2) is learn the tones first. These books are fantastic. Richard Charles is the author. He’s put a lot of work into these. And the first thing, up-front, right at the beginning, is tones … Thai is a tonal language … so you’ve got to learn the tones. It’s got to be instinctive, it’s got to be second nature ... That’s what this guy here does (Richard Charles). These are great books. You know, I’m not making any money as an endorsement, but I have bought lots of (learn Thai language) books, and lots of apps, and watched lots of YouTube video’s, I’ve been to two different schools, but this guy (Richard Charles) has really put a great resource together, and I highly, highly recommend them.’

(Peter then goes on to describe aspects of the book and DVD video and talk about his advice to new learners of Thai, so it is very worthwhile for you to watch this short five-minute vlog in full).

'I must say that your online course is the very best Thai learning I have seen. Thank you.’

‘If you're a beginner learning Thai get this! Brilliant product for anyone wanting to learn basic Thai, great for learning how to order food & drinks ect. and hold basic conversations with the Thai people, nearly finished the book and picked it up fairly easy after about 3 weeks of studying about 2 hours a day, I'll be getting Speak Thai volume 2 shortly.’

Steven Davies, U.K.

'This is the most approachable course in Thai that I’ve found yet … and at a price you can’t ignore. I'm deep into this version (Isaan Thai) and have already bought the (central) Thai set of books & DVD's as well, for my next venture. If you've ever tried taking a Thai language course, you'll know that it is a complex language for westerners to learn. Personally, I have a box of Thai language books, CD's and DVD's all gathering dust. But not this one!i

First it is approachable, easy to start. One of the problems with other courses is that they just give you the data and the rules but don't give you step by step guidance. Or they present you with random pictures and words to match up. This course walks you through what you need to know, starting with the very practical basics ... it's the next best thing to having a personal tutor. (and I've had one for standard Thai.) Note: Isaan Thai is substantially different than both Central Thai and Lao.’…

Combining the seeing and listening together really helps as does the opportunity to say the words right afterward. Although I do plan to make some flash cards for practice offline.

This is not so much a language thing, but I really appreciated seeing realistic pictures of life in Isaan as the backgrounds for the lessons. The scenes, people, houses, etc. look ‘just’ like my wife's village in Northeast Thailand (Isaan). I immediately 'felt at home' when I saw them. Similarly, there is a wealth of advice on Isaan culture and how to fit in.…………………………………………………………………………………………..

Finally, the price is right… it's an excellent value for money, far better than many, more expensive courses.’

‘Excellent. This is the best first stage language book I have ever had (Speak Thai Vol.1). It is very straight-forward with exactly the content which a beginner requires. I tried two other Thai language books before this which were both good in their own way but this one is much better in terms of both relevance and clarity. The DVD is a big help with pronunciation.’

Wilson Russell, U.K.

The Speak Thai book and DVD has some nice features. What I particularly liked is the practicality of the approach. Instead of just telling you that 'hello' is sawat-dee krap they point out various responses and their appropriateness. I haven't seen anything like this elsewhere. It's the sort of thing you pick up yourself with practice, but it can be frustrating for the beginner when books only give you one 'signal phrase' and one 'response phrase', then real life throws something completely different at you. I also liked some of the cultural points that were neatly included into the text without throwing the reader off-track.

'The Speak Thai book and DVD is excellent. I did use different methods to learn Thai since 5 years because I go for 1 month every year in the north of Thailand. Your method is the BEST I know. The text in 2 language and phonetic and oral is a super idea! The pictures are so nice and lovely!

The course is perfect because it use all the possibility to learn. Read and listen. Especially good about "tones" so difficult to pronounce for a "farang". A notion to repeat in every lessons! Important! Thank you so much! I am Swiss. I would like to find such a good course for english! It's would be very useful for me! (5555).’

 ‘Excellent … this is the best book / CD to learn Thai I have used to date.’

Excellent value for money. Far superior to more expensive products. I would just like to say thank you. I was in Loei province recently for the birth of my daughter ... and I am sure your products will help my Thai learning and also my family English learning.

Cliff Wilkinson, U.K.

'Very easy to use, great book and great DVD. Good value for money. Most books have either been far too studious, or phrase books which can never hope to teach the elements of language. Your book seems to slot into that gap where people want to learn the language, without perhaps the overhead of a writing system, and the limitations imposed by phrase books. It uses useful easy conversation Thai and teaches step by step in a way from a simple construction sentence to longer sentences with additional or elements.

Graeme Herrington. U.K.

‘I find these books better than any other printed source I have tried. I really like how the color coding is done with the words.’

Lynn Bantley, U.K.

‘Great! I have tried other books and this is the best by far. This book and DVD guides you step by step and is much cheaper than some of the online courses. I think I can start to move forward with my Thai studies. Kop kun krap.’

 Carl Petty, U.K.

 ‘Speak Thai Volume 1 is excellent. It’s a great and easy way to learn about Thai language and it's cultural and it has helped me perfect my tones and help understand pitch. It’s the best Thai course I’ve used by far.’

Jason Masters, U.K.

'I appreciate your books because they gave me additional valuable information about life and habits, explaining the hitherto difficult to understand family relationships and many other practical advice with an easy way of absorbing new words, phrases and expressions.’

Hans Brennecke, Thailand

==========================

‘Good value for money. Very good. Course is very clearly set out. Think my wife is worried I can listen in on their conversations if I learn too much Isaan!’

Greg Roberts, Australia

 ‘I have been looking for Isaan language resources for a long time as they are few and far between, so when I found this book I was very excited. It's a great book, and if you already have a good knowledge of the Thai language you will pick up the Isaan very quickly as it is very similar. There is a good amount of vocabulary and the grammar explanations are quite clear. There are also a number of useful everyday phrases. The book is excellent.’

Peter Reeh, Manchester, U.K.

‘The course is very good and good value for money. I started quickly to speak some words and could follow discussions. That is a good start.’

 Perolow Svenburg, Sweden

==========================

‘Speak Thai is excellent. I like the colour coded translations, the literal meanings and page layout (the table chart design) and the farang-man pictures.! I also like that it uses both phonetic and Thai alphabet and that there is a good emphasis on tones.’

Lubthai, U.K.
